My Story

When client connect with Jacquelyn for an initial session, she initiates the the therapeutic relationship by building rapport exploring, and gathering information for best practice. Clients find that  Jackie has a genuine interest in knowing a person’s story from all sides, including the perspectives of those in their lives. Together, she works with clients to develop a deeper understanding of their context and developing self awareness. Jacquelyn uses a systemic, solution-focused, client-centered approach with all modalities. In other words, her focus is on how dynamics within a client’s relationship with the self, family, partner, workplace, etc. manifest in a client’s life context and how the various identities and intersections also play a role. She begins with the relationship one has with self. In order to understand the surrounding systems, one must comprehend how those systems show up in ourselves as well. She believes your healing will always begin, progress, and conclude with you.

In developing a understanding of your life, and the lives of those within your systems,  You will begin to track patterns in thoughts, emotions, words, and actions. She emanates a safe, warm, friendly, humorous and down to earth atmosphere, conducive for the therapeutic process. She aims to empower clients in creating behavioral changes while exploring the deeper meaning within recurring patterns. Jacquelyn utilizes evidence-based approaches including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing.

Jacquelyn’s approach is integrative and systemic, tailoring her style of therapy to the unique needs of those she works with while considering the individual, relational, and cultural components of one’s being. Jacquelyn is fluent in Spanish and is a culturally sensitive therapist with a deep appreciation in working with people of diverse backgrounds.
